CASTE Book Study

Updated: Nov 20, 2021

International Human Rights Day is celebrated around the world on December 10th. In keeping with this important day, Bonner County Human Rights Task Force (BCHRTF) is pleased to announce an upcoming cooperative project with the library, focusing on Isabel Wilkerson’s book Caste, The Origins of Our Discontents. Ms. Wilkerson’s book addresses “how America today and through its history has been shaped by a hidden caste system, a rigid hierarchy of human rankings.” Her book goes beyond race, class, or other factors to examine a caste system that defines a system of “human division.” We are privileged to have Dr. Ann Masai join us to introduce Ms. Wilkerson’s book and provide important background on the upcoming topics. The following meetings will be to discuss portions of the book and will be facilitated by BCHRTF Board members.
